The Stafford London

The Stafford London Review

Located in St James's Place, and providing very convenient access to Green Park, St James Park, Buckingham Palace, Bond Street for shopping, and more. The property originally served as an overseas club for American and Canadian officers during World War II, and the Stafford remains a popular choice for American travelers who are seeking traditional British style. Here are four things we loved the most:

  • The hotel offers a range of styles from the very traditional Main House and Carriage House, to the more modern Mews and Gatehouse suites. We loved the Gatehouse suite which has 3 floors, a private internal elevator, fantastic artwork, and very comfortable.

  • The Game Bird restaurant is excellent and focuses on modern British comfort cooking where local, seasonal produce sits alongside time-honored British Classics. The American Bar is a fun spot with lots of memorabilia, “best in London” hamburgers, and signature cocktails.

  • Beneath the hotel is a 380-year-old Wine Cellar that was originally used as an air-raid shelter in World War II. The cellars house up to 8,000 bottles of the finest wines, and the hotel’s Master Sommelier hosts wine tastings and wine-pairing dinners within the Cellars throughout the year.

  • The outdoor courtyard is a great spot to enjoy dinner and drinks on warm summer nights.
